Stock Market Glossary

The right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell certain securities at a specified price within a specified time. A put option gives the holder the right to sell the security, and a call option gives the holder the right to buy the security.

A valuation of companies last traded share price to its latest reported 12 months earnings per share. Company is INR 40 and earnings over a last 12 months per share is INR 2, then the P/E ratio of that X company is INR 20 (40/2)

Prospectus documents usually disclose pertinent information concerning the company’s operations, securities, management and purpose of the offering.

An option that is given to investor the right to sell a particular stock at a stated price within a specified time period. Put option is purchased by those who believe that particular stock price is going to fall down than the stated price.

Information on a stock’s latest trading price. This is sometimes delayed by 20 minutes unless you are using an actual broker trading platform.
